The four-step host setup
- Start a party in Auxio with Spotify, YouTube, or Apple Music. You are the host. Playback stays with you.
- Invite the room with the party code or QR. Put it on a TV, a kitchen counter, or a group chat.
- Let guests search and request from their phones. They do not need a matching streaming login.
- Let the votes work. Guests upvote what they want next. You still skip, pause, and own the speakers.
That is a social jukebox: the group participates, and one person remains the DJ. More detail is in the Auxio FAQ and about page.
House party tips
A house party is the default Auxio use case. The failure mode without a jukebox is familiar: one phone on the speaker, friends shouting titles, someone opening Spotify and derailing the night.
- Connect speakers first (phone, Bluetooth, AirPlay, or Spotify Connect if you are hosting with Spotify), then start the Auxio party.
- Put the party code where people walk in. A TV queue is better than repeating the code all night.
- Tell guests they can request songs and vote — they do not get skip or volume.
- Seed the queue with a few tracks so the first guest is not staring at an empty list.
- If the room is split by genre, let voting do the work instead of arguing over the aux.
Wedding and event tips
A wedding song request app should be easy for guests who have never heard of Auxio. They should not need to create an account on your music service.
- Host on the service you already use for the reception playlist — Spotify or Apple Music for music, YouTube if you want video.
- Display the QR on a TV or printed card labeled “Request a song.” That is the whole onboarding.
- Keep a human host (you or a friend) on playback so requests do not replace a first dance or toasts.
- Use the shared queue for open dancing. You can still lock the important moments by simply not skipping into guest tracks yet.
Road trip tips
Auxio is a strong road trip music app when passengers want a say and the driver should not pass the phone around.
- The driver or car stereo stays the host. Passengers join the party code from the back seat.
- Ask people to request, not to grab the phone. Voting settles the “what’s next” argument.
- Spotify hosts can keep playback on the car’s Spotify connection when Connect is available.
- Start the party before you leave the driveway so everyone has the code.
TV and living-room tips
A social jukebox is more fun when the room can see now playing, who requested it, and how to join.
- On Google TV, search the app store for Auxio for TV. On Fire TV, search for The Jukebox App.
- Leave the QR and party code on screen. Guests should not have to ask you for the code twice.
- Phones do the searching. The TV does the showing. That split is the point.
Picking Spotify vs YouTube vs Apple Music
- Spotify — best when you want a music catalog and connected speakers / Connect devices.
- Apple Music — best when the host already lives in Apple Music and wants that catalog for requests.
- YouTube — best when the party wants videos, lyrics rips, or clips that are not in a music subscription.
Guests request against whichever catalog you hosted. They still join the same way: party code or QR, display name, search, vote.
Host etiquette that keeps the night good
- Do not treat votes as a law you must obey if a request would wreck the room. You are still the DJ.
- Do skip obvious trolls. That is host control, not a betrayal of the jukebox idea.
- Do explain the rules once: request, vote, no grabbing the speaker phone.
- Do download Auxio ahead of time from the App Store or Google Play so you are not setting up at the door.
